My Name is Sonja London-Hall. I am a graduate of Arizona State University where I received my undergraduate degree in Music Education and English. I hold two master’s degrees from Northern Arizona University specializing in Educational Leadership, Reading Specialization, Bilingual Multicultural Education, and Technology. In my 38 years of teaching, I have worn many hats. I have been in band and drama classrooms for 22 years, administration/ELL/English, and a science teacher for 10 years to name some of my school responsibilities. I have coached several sports and enjoy coaching tennis and swimming specifically.

Students taking my classes at NPA will learn how to play a musical instrument WELL. I strive to prepare students for professional, or simply fun lifelong interactions with their instrument. Many NPA band students go on to major or minor in music education and are prepared for their scholarship auditions.

In my time off campus, I am a local artist and business owner. I specialize in Art glass (stained glass, hot glass), encaustic, mixed media, and installation works. I have completed many public projects for the City of Flagstaff. I have works represented in several local and Southwest galleries. In the summer I travel to art related destinations to either teach, workshop, or participate as an artist in residency.

My hobbies are camping, kayaking, hiking, and reading. I spend a considerable amount of time working ideas and prototypes for art.

My artist’s statement:
“It is my goal as a lifelong teacher to instill in learners a fascination with the creative process. It is in that creative space the human spirit can rejuvenate and rediscover itself. Art and music merit contemplation and has always been my source of inspiration.”
