Kerr, Austin (Social Studies: US Hist. 11, AP US Hist.)

Welcome to our 2020-2021 school year, I hope everyone is doing well! If you follow the pages to the class you are in there is an update for my US History courses as we proceed through this next bit of time and instruction.

We will have all the assignments, readings, and discussions through Google Classroom (keep a look out for the code, they will be posted prior to the first day of classes). If students have any issue with technology, or there are any other complications, please email me at akerr@northlandprep.org

Stay safe and healthy!

Description:

Welcome to US History! I’m really excited to learn and explore the ideas of American history, politics, philosophy and so much more this year with you all.

Supplies: You need to make sure you have a Google Drive folder designated for my class. We are going to be doing most of our learning through an online platform (even if we go back to in-person later in the year) where you will submit all of your assignments and participate in online forums and other activities. If you so desire a physical pen, paper, and notebook, please do that, I want you to be as successful as possible.

Email me if you have any questions.

Books: You will need two books for the year. A lot of our discussions will be based on Howard Zinn’s “A People’s History of the United States”. You can find this book at any bookstore, but if you cannot acquire the physical copy it is free if you follow this link: http://www.historyisaweapon.com/zinnapeopleshistory.html

You will also need to come to school on Monday 8/10, between 8:30-3:30, in the Old Main Lobby to pick up a textbook that has multiple choice (MC), short answer questions (SAQ), long essay questions (LEQ), and document based questions (DBQ) practice problems, as well as basic terms, that we will use throughout the year.

Email me if you have any questions.
