Dear 7th and 9th Grade NPA Families,
At the start of 2nd semester, 7th and 9th grade girls and boys will have the option of participating in the sexual education courses provided by Coconino County Health and Human Services. These classes will be offered during students’ ILS periods twice per week from January through March depending on snow days and late start delays. This course is an “all or nothing” option meaning once students opt in and sign the participation form, they are committed for the duration of the program. Please take careful consideration in this decision as it does mean forgoing their study hall twice a week for several weeks.
In order to help you decide if you would like your child to participate, we will be hosting a parent informational meeting with our Coconino County Public Health Educator on Tuesday, December 10th from 5:30-6:30 at NPA in Room 306 (near the gymnasium). More detailed information about the curriculum will be provided at that time and any additional questions you might have will be answered. In the meantime, please feel free to familiarize yourself with the grade level specific curriculum, as we’ve attached it for you along with the course specific permission slips (7th Grade: Smart Girls and Wise Guys, 9th Grade: Reduce the Risk). Permission slips will be due by Friday, December 13th and no slips will be accepted after that date as we must have those submitted to the county prior to classes starting.
