moreDigital Photography I --HS

Description:

Students learn photographic principles and techniques that are common to both digital and traditional photography, as well as techniques that apply only to digital photography.Students will become proficient in the use of basic digital camera and photo editing software such as Adobe Photoshop. The course explores technical features that are common on digital cameras, and artistic considerations, such as photo composition.

Students investigate exposure control and studio lighting as they investigate the elements and principles of design in a variety of photography approaches such as sports photography and portraiture. Photo editing techniques including special effect filtering, collaged digital, collated scanned images and a variety of other beginning to intermediate photo editing techniques are explored. Students will use an image editor to altering images for both image improvement and artistic considerations.NOTE: Enrollment is limited. High school students have priority. Students should consult with instructor before requesting registration.

Photo follows an assignment sequence that follows the general schedule listed below:
  EXTENDED PERIOD WEEK:
  —– TUESDAY: Computer Day & Photo Assignment Due
  —– THURSDAY: New Photo Assignment Assigned and Samples shown
  —– FRIDAY: Computer Day and Daily Photos uploaded for Friday-Thursday.
  NON-EXTENDED PERIOD WEEK:
  —– MONDAY: SHARE/CRITIQUE most recent Photo Project Submissions
  —– FRIDAY: Computer Day and Daily Photos uploaded for Friday-Thursday

Description:

NOTE: Enrollment is limited to High school students. Priority given to students who have completed Art 1.
  REQUIRED SUPPLY:
  —– 9” x 12” spiral bound sketchbook for journal and art entries/sketches.
  —– folder for handouts
  —– #2B graphite pencils (non- mechanical)
  —– 2 Sharpie markers (thick and thin)
  —– 2 roll paper towels (to share with class)
  —– 2 chlorox wipes
  —– duct tape
  —– needle nose pliers
  —– 2 boxes of toothpicks
  —– copper and brass wire
  —– 1 box of quart ziploc style plastic bags


  IF POSSIBLE:
  —– copper and brass sheet metal
  —– aluminum flashing
