Description:

Welcome to Accelerated Chemistry Online!  Here is how class will work starting Monday, March 30, 2020!

I want to start by letting everyone know that I am available via email: tharris@northlandprep.org whenever you need me! I have downloaded a Zoom account, and I suggest you all do the same. It seems like Zoom is going to be the online video platform that is most used at NPA. If you need support academically or mentally, please don’t hesitate to reach out by email or tune into my Office Hours (mentioned below).

1. You will check in WEEKLY into the google classroom by completing the “check-in” assignment. This will allow me to see who has access to the content. This is my attendance sheet!

2. You will watch the videos of notes (just like when I’m absent for class). The notes will cover the content we are learning. We just finished Ch. 12 and will complete Ch. 13, 14, and 15 this quarter!

3. You will complete homework to receive points! The homework is, of course, open note! There will be 1-2 assignments per week, likely through the completion of a Google Form.

4. Lastly, I will have “Office Hours” on MONDAYS from 10:00am-12:00pm. You will sign up for office hours through a Google Doc on the classroom.  This will be a time slot I will open a live Zoom chat to catch up on the latest movies, Netflix series, funny stories… oh yeah, and answer any chemistry questions you might have!

That’s it folks! I want everyone to begin this quarter with confidence! These may be challenging times, BUT we are built for this and we can get through it together! Lean on each other for guidance and help, and please lean on me for questions and support!

Let’s get to work!

2. As you may know, the AP exam will now be delivered as a 45 minute online exam. The type of exam question and exam dates are not yet available, but will be posted on College Board by April 3rd. You will have the option of two different exam dates. As I find more information about registering for the exam and all of that, I will let you know. The AP Chemistry exam will be covering content that we have already completed— Unit 1: Atomic Structure and Properties, Unit 2: Molecular and Ionic Compound Structure and Properties, Unit 3: Intermolecular Forces and Properties, Unit 4: Chemical Reactions, Unit 5: Kinetics, Unit 6: Thermodynamics, and Unit 7: Equilibrium.

3. Because we have already completed the MasteringChemistry HW for the Units that will be on the test, we will be using the AP College Board Classroom to review the content. I will post weekly homework problems to complete. There are also free review lessons offered at AP [ www.students.collegeboard.org/coronavirus-updates#free-ap-classes ]. These review lessons are live video feeds from AP Chem teachers around the nation.

4. Lastly, I will have “Office Hours” that will be shared soon. This will be a date and time I will open a live Zoom chat to catch up on the latest movies, Netflix series, funny stories… oh yeah, and answer any AP chemistry questions you might have!
