Enrolling Your Child at NPA

Applying for Enrollment at NPA

Thank you for your interest in Northland Preparatory Academy. We are pleased that you are considering NPA for your child’s education. As a public charter school, NPA carefully follows state laws regarding enrollment (A.R.S. 15-184). When the number of applicants for a given grade level exceeds the available spaces, state law calls for a lottery to determine which applicants may enroll. State charter school law grants preference to siblings of current students, and allows charter schools to grant preference to children of staff members and governing board members.

Open Enrollment Period and Enrollment Showcases

Northland Preparatory Academy’s (NPA’s) admissions policy states that the Open Enrollment Period shall run from the second Friday in November through the second Friday in January. Shortly after the Open Enrollment Period closes, lotteries at each grade level are conducted to determine which students will be eligible to attend NPA, and which students are placed on the wait lists. This year’s pre-lottery application deadline is January 10, 2020.

Any application packets received after the Open Enrollment Period closes will not be part of the lotteries but will instead be placed at the bottom of the waiting lists in the order they were received.

Application packets will be given out to parents/guardians in person, by mail or through our website (upcoming). NPA will be holding two Showcases  (11-2-19 and 12-7-19).  The Showcases are intended to familiarize families with the school and its exciting program opportunities prior to applying. The sessions will outline NPA’s 6th-12th grade program including curriculum, expectations for academics and student behavior as well as differences between public charter schools and traditional public schools.

The NPA Showcases for parents interested in enrollment for the 2020-21 school year will be held as follows:

Saturday, November 2, 2019 from 10:00am until approximately 12:00pm

Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 10:00am until approximately 12:00pm

Parking is available on campus (enter our campus via the driveway on Soliere Ave. just down from 4th Street) and overflow parking is available if necessary in the back of Sinagua Middle School’s parking lot at the top of Mustang Drive. See map here.  Please do not park in the FUSD Administration building’s lot.

Those seeing this message after January 10, 2020 are encouraged to submit post-lottery applications.  In some years at some grade levels (generally upper grades when school-to-school mobility is lesser) we have shorter wait lists, so those interested in NPA should not assume that missing the January application deadline completely eliminates one’s chances of enrolling.

Please feel free to call us at 214-8776 if you have any questions.  See you at a Showcase!
